Katamatite is a rural township in Victoria about 46 kilometres north east of Shepparton. Katamatite has a population of 400 approximately. Katamatite is central to Cobram, Yarrawonga, Shepparton and Numurkah and handy to the Murray River.
Katamatite is located in the Murray Valley irrigation area. Township buildings were erected in 1877 and the Post Office opened on 1 December 1877. The township's name is said to be derived from a question, specifically "Kate, am I tight?"
The Katamatite LPO is a single EPOS terminal and, with the exception of passports, offers a full suite of Australia Post services. As there are no banks or ATMs in Katamatite, Bank-a-Post transactions comprise a significant proportion of EPOS/NETPOS daily activities.
PO Boxes are all leased.

The residence comprises three bedrooms, lounge (split system air conditioner in lounge), separate dining room, kitchen with gas stove (bottled), bathroom, toilet and external laundry. Undercover entertaining area with separate toilet. Carport, plus single garage/shed.
