Bourke is a town in the north-west of New South Wales. It is the administrative centre and largest town in Bourke Shire, and is approximately 758 kilometres north-west of the state capital, Sydney, on the south bank of the Darling River. It is also 917 kilometres from Brisbane, 982 kilometres from Melbourne and 1,133 kilometres from Adelaide. Population 5,000 approximately.
